Description

Diaries of Errett McLeod Graham, a teenage boy from Irvington, Indiana, dated 1 January 1892-31 December 1893. Two diaries cover one year each, 1892 and 1893. Graham recorded the details of his school days, summer vacations, interactions with family, play with friends, the weather in Irvington, and other daily activities. These diaries also include brief records of cash received and expended, such as payment received for picking strawberries, performing chores around the house, and "bicycle rent", and money donated to a church. One diary, with handwritten cover title "Errett M. Graham, World’s Fair, Chicago, 1893", recounts the three weeks which Graham and his family spent at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, 24 June-17 July 1893. Graham described exhibitions at the fair, including a detailed account of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, and recounted an armed robbery at the board
