Through my years of training as a dancer and choreographer, I bring the choreographer’s eye to the visual mediums of video and photography. To me, they are all one; the movement and dynamics created by video editing, the sense of design in photography are all Dance.
When I work with dancers, I recreate this sense of dynamics and design in my choreography to bring out the best in them. When I videotape a performance, I try to recreate the vibrancy and emotion that is on stage in the two dimensional format of the video screen. This is repeated in the editing process where choreographic skills are paramount.
In photography, the element of lighting illuminates the nuances of emotion and action, and reveals the sense of design and proportion in the dance.
All these elements exist together, woven into an artistic unified whole.
